More Than 110,000 Rich’s Ice Cream Bars Recalled Due to Listeria Risk

By Denise Mann HealthDay Reporter

WEDNESDAY, July 23, 2025 (HealthDay News) — More than 100,000 Rich’s Ice Cream Co. bars have been recalled due to possible listeria contamination.

The affected ice cream bars were sold across 23 states and in Nassau, capital of the Bahamas, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said.

Rich’s Ice Cream, based in West Palm Beach, Fla., and the FDA initiated the recall on June 27, and the FDA declared it a Class II recall last week. The Class II designation signifies a “situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences,” the FDA said.

So far, there are no reported illnesses related to the recalled ice cream bars, but the investigation is “ongoing,” the FDA noted.

Each year, 1,600 people are infected with Listeria, and 260 people will die from the infection, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Listeria infection, or listeriosis, can be especially harmful for pregnant women, newborns, seniors and individuals with compromised immune systems. Symptoms typically include diarrhea and vomiting.

The recalled ice cream bars were individually packaged in plastic bags and sold in master cases.

They are labeled with Lot #24351 through #25156, and include:

  • Chocolate Crunch Cake Bar

  • Strawberry Shortcake Bar

  • Rich Bar

  • Crumbled Cookie Bar

  • Orange Cream Bar

  • Fudge Frenzy Bar

  • Cotton Candy Twirl Bar

  • Savagely Sour Blue Raspberry Bar

  • Savagely Sour Cherry Bar

  • Cool Watermelon Bar

Customers are urged not to eat affected ice cream bars. The FDA and Rich Ice Cream Co. have not yet announced what remedies are available, according to USA Today.
